What IS Human Trafficking?
In the year 2000 defined under U.S. law, victims of sex trafficking are:
- Children under age 18 induced into commercial sex
- Adults aged 18 or over induced into commercial sex through force, fraud, or coercion
FORMS OF COMMERCIAL SEX ACTS:
Commercial sex is any sex act on account of which anything of value is given to or received by any person and can include…
- Pornography
- Phone sex
- Live sex and peep shows
- Stripping/Striptease
- Prostitution
- Illicit Massage Parlors
BEHAVIORAL INDICATORS (warning signs):
- Person is accompanied by an adult (male or female) who seems controlling
- Person avoids eye contact
- Person appears fearful, anxious, depressed, submissive, nervous, and/or paranoid
- Person is inappropriately dressed for the weather
- Person doesn't know address, day of the week or month
- Person is unable to speak for himself/herself
- Person is unable to provide a consistent account of what has happened to him/her
- Person acknowledges having a pimp and/or working to hit a quota
- Person acknowledges someone getting a cut of his/her wages
PHYSICAL INDICATORS:
- Infected tattoo, or tattoos specific to trafficking
- (diamonds, bows, crowns, tattoos that read "property of" or "daddy's girl").
- Bruises, burns, scars, fractures.
- Dental/oral hygiene problems.
- STI's, signs of multiple and unsafe abortions.
- Signs of exhaustion, malnutrition, dehydration.

- Boys are also sexually trafficked.
- The United States is the largest consumer.
- If you are not keeping tabs on who your children are talking to online, they could already be talking to a predator.
- If your children are using chat features/ apps, they could already be talking to a predator.
- It does not matter if the game is made for young children, pedators pose as children the same age to gain their trust.
- They can be promised things like; toys, food, clothing or even money.
- 100% of online victums will go willingly to meet up for the first time.
- Traffickers can be someone from their own family, boyfriend/girlfriend, gang members, trusted officals etc.
