Time in the States
It is so hard to believe that we are already in the third month of the new year and we would like to say sorry for the long delay of writing a newsletter.
We returned to the states the middle of December to spend Christmas with our son and Cindy's mom; however what was only supposed to be a two week visit turned into a nine week stay. The reason for the long stay was that John's dad had been diagnosed with bladder cancer and John wanted to be there to help take his dad to his doctors appointments. John's mom was also moving into a new house so we wanted to help her get settled into her new house as well. This was not how our usual visit to the states normally goes, but family is more important.
We would appreciate if you would keep John's dad in your prayers for his complete healing.
Back in Costa Rica
We made it back to Costa Rica at the end of February and have been trying to get adjusted to the heat since we returned. It was nice to have a little cold weather for a change, but it does make it hard to get adjusted again to the 95+ degree heat. It is also very dry, dusty, and windy which has caused a few sinus problems for Cindy. Please pray for Cindy to get over the sinus problems that she is currently having.
The families and children that we work with are very happy that we finally made it back. Two days after we returned, we were blessed to receive a meal cooked by the lady that we call Grandma. She has since cooked for us two more times and is wanting to cook for us again. We are truly honored and humbled by her selfless acts.
We have also continued with the ladies' Bible study since we have been back. We are studying the book of Esther right now, and the ladies are really asking a lot of questions. The ladies have also started opening up to us more and are sharing some things about their lives and some struggles that they have going on. Also, one of the ladies would like to open up her home to us to have a children's Bible lesson. We are just so grateful to God for these open doors and we really understand now why we did not purchase a property or rent another location. If we had rented or bought something, the ladies would not feel that they were needed.
God has also opened up a door for us to talk to some of the other moms. In the past, some of these moms would look away so they wouldn't have to talk to us, but now they are talking. We really do serve an awesome God! He does work everything out, but it is not always as we have planned or it doesn't happen as fast as we would like it to, but He is in control.
Lastly, since being back we have had a few birthdays to celebrate. Birthday parties are celebrated a little bit different here than in the states. Instead of bringing presents, you just come to celebrate the birthday person with food and of course cake.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6
With God ALL things are possible. Matt 19:26.
Lots of love and Blessings,
